Howard Karger, PhD, was a professor at Hawai’i Pacific University. He was formerly Chairperson of the Department of Family Studies and Social Work at Miami University, Head of the School of Social Work and Human Services at the University of Queensland, and PhD director at the University of Houston. He is a three-time Senior Fulbright Scholar and has published widely in national and international journals. Howard lives in Kailua, Hawaii, and enjoys bike riding, hiking, beach walks, and roasting coffee. He’s proud to be a certified barista in Australia, even though he never worked as one.
David Stoesz received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland-Baltimore. In addition to an endowed chair, he has taught at universities in every quadrant of the U.S. and held two Fulbright Distinguished Chair appointments (U.K. and Australia). His books address critical issues in social services, political polarization, and social research. He has been inducted into the National Academy of Social Insurance. Dr. Stoesz lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he enjoys downhill skiing, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, and weaving.
